“The Seal of Biliteracy is the single greatest thing to happen to World Language Education EVER maybe, in terms of advocacy. Aside from ideas about proficiency and standards, the Seal of Biliteracy has so much potential to be powerful, and we haven’t even figured it all out. That’s how great it is.” (Jessica Haxhi, past president, ACTFL)

California led the way (yay!) as the first state in the nation to adopt the Seal of Biliteracy in 2011, followed, little by little, by other states. Thanks to the efforts of state and local advocates and supporters, 49 states have adopted the seal. If your school is in one of the few remaining California districts not participating, find out more about the seal and how to bring this opportunity to your students.
