CLTA has been an organization for almost 50 years, and it is time now to reap the benefits of everything we have learned, to continue to support teaching and learning, and to expand our services and resources for the benefit of teachers and learners of language and culture.

The CLTA Board is in the first year of the new Strategic Plan Process for 2017-2021. We are asking world language professionals to become a part of the planning as we move our association forward. We encourage everyone to create and maintain a dialog within affiliates to vigorously share the CLTA mission and vision with personal and group action. We encourage those who do not belong to an affiliate to begin working with a team here, to make your voice known, and to be a part of this worthy endeavor. To begin, here are the seven Strategic Goals that will be our work in the coming years:

1.       Organizational Infrastructure & Sustainability

2.       Powerful World Language Programs

3.       Professional Development

4.       Membership/Affiliate Services

5.       Strategic Partnerships

6.       Community Engagement

7.       Advocacy

Most of our goals have identified team leaders, but some do not. Within each Strategic Goal are specific Recommended Actions. Each Action requires a Team Lead person and others to work on that Action. As we continue efforts toward the fulfillment of our vision, we invite, encourage, and count on all of you, to become a part of this journey. Please email Tanya Zaccone, Executive Director, exec-director@clta.net with questions or to let us know which goal(s) interest you or that you want to learn about. This is an ideal opportunity to work as a leader and team member on a state-wide level. Working together, we can achieve the goals necessary to support our educators and learners.
