This year’s theme focused on Common Core and World Language Standards: Engaging 21st Century Learners. While the Seminar’s general sessions continued to address topics relevant to all participants, including Common Core Standards and World Language Education, participants also reviewed Assessment of Language Learner Performance employing the NCSSFL/ACTFL “Can Do” Statements, and Engaging 21st Century Language Learners in acquiring the global competencies necessary to be college, career and world readiness!
Also popular were language specific strands, as well as a new strand: Immersion / Two Way Programs: Research, Models and Instructional Strategies for Chinese and Spanish Programs. For those recent to the profession, a Foundations strand: Standards-Based Lesson / Unit Design to Increase Students’ Linguistic and Academic Performance was offered. Content in the strands that are repeated from one year to the next is updated annually.
