Students at Apple Valley High School will present a Foreign Language Variety Show on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at 7:00 PM in the Tony Balsamo Fine Arts Building at Apple Valley High School. The cost is $2 general admission and $1 for students with ID and seniors.
Students from the various levels of French, German and Spanish will present plays, songs, commercials, and poems that showcase their achievement in foreign language. A photo opportunity will be available on March 27. The Variety Show is part of several activities taking place this week to promote National Foreign Language Month.
We live in a world where knowing only English
is no longer an advantage. After September 11, the need for multilingual
and multicultural citizens was evident. California's students
can gain the knowledge of different cultures through the study
of foreign languages in school. Studies show that in addition
to these global benefits, students who study foreign languages
score better on standardized tests, like the SAT and ACT than
students who do not study other languages. Apple Valley High
School students will be showcasing their studies in foreign languages
on March 27.
