Eastern Daylight Time.Register now for the Virtual Open House. This is your chance to learn more about our new education alliance that gives ACTFL members the opportunity to earn a specialized online graduate certificate in Instructional Technology Integration designed for individuals teaching languages at the K–12 level. The 12-credit certificate in Instructional Technology Integration adapts four courses from the UMUC Master of Education in Instructional Technology program, tailoring the courses for language teachers. Each 3-credit course focuses on incorporating current and emerging technologies into curriculum, instruction, and assessment to maximize K-12 student learning. The semester-length courses are completely online and on your time schedule (two courses begin Fall 2012; two more will be added Spring 2013).
You might ask, “Are these courses specialized for world language educators?” The answer is YES; ACTFL members adapted the courses of the Instructional Technology Integration certificate by embedding throughout all four courses the national standards for learning languages’ emphasis on interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication. The course assignments focus on applications in teaching world languages.
It’s easy to enroll. Just apply for admission to UMUC (you will be eligible for a waiver of the application fee). UMUC will also offer a 25% tuition discount on out-of-state rates for ACTFL members who are not Maryland residents.
The certificate program may be completed within one academic year. Participants also have the opportunity of continuing their studies, enrolling in UMUC’s online Master of Education in Instructional Technology and applying the credits they earned in the certificate program toward the master’s degree.
Join us on August 14 and hear more about the new program. Register for the Virtual Open House.
